Outreach
TAPIR is committed to involving the communities we are a part of in all aspects of our science. Through multiple outreach programs, we have shared our knowledge among those in the Tucson community and abroad.
In Tucson, we have participated in outreach to local elementary schools through department-run incentives and independent organizations like CommunityShare. Working with elementary schools is important to us, as we strongly believe that inspiring the next generation of scientists to make potentially ground-breaking discoveries is a moral obligation as ambassadors to planetary science.
Abroad, our members have participated in talks given to other elementary schools (notably in Costa Rica), as well as to the Belfast Geologists' Society in Northern Ireland. As we have a diverse cohort at TAPIR, we are able to connect with people in English, Spanish and Italian. If you are interested in having one of our members connect with your organization, either in-person or virtually, we encourage you to reach out!
